Take a browse through the opportunities that we currently have for volunteers by looking at the opportunities for local neighborhood residents, students, and service groups and reading the stories of the projects led and conducted by other volunteers.
Volunteer resources expand the capacity of our programs by lending a helping hand, being a role model, providing a needed skill, or simply being a friend. Whether it's decorating for a fundraising event or tutoring a second grader, whether rocking a baby or teaching computer skills, whether conducting a food drive or reading to a senior citizen, the skills and gifts of time shared by our volunteers are essential to the community of East Side Neighborhood Services!
In 2009, 487 individuals and groups volunteered over 24,093 hours of their time to a variety of East Side Programs and events.
Besides playing a fundamental role in the community building of East Side Neighborhood Services, your volunteer experience can provide you with opportunities:
- Develop and share your skills
- Meet new people and challenges
- Gain new and enriching experiences
- Strengthen your community
- Utilize your skills and expertise in useful and satisfying ways
- Develop new skills, hobbies and make new friends
Many people have thought about volunteering, but are uncertain about what kind of commitment it would mean or how to find the right opportunity. East Side would like to help you give back to your community, whether that means taking part in a one-day project or making an ongoing commitment to a volunteer activity.
