The Prospect Park United Methodist Church (PPUMC) Community Concert Series includes a free concert open to the public each month, September through May, with donations accepted. 100% of proceeds goes to a designated community organization.
This month's concert, featuring Fletcher Magellan, benefits the Glendale Food Shelf at East Side Neighborhood Services. The Glendale Food Shelf is located in the Glendale Townhomes community in the Prospect Park neighborhood and supplies a wide variety of culturally-specific foods that are staples to the diets of community members.
East Side opened the Glendale Food Shelf in 2009 in partnership with the Minneapolis Public Housing Authority (MPHA) and with additional support from Hennepin County, faith communities, businesses, and community organizations.
Fletcher Magellan is a sometimes two, sometimes ten-piece cosmic country band from Minneapolis. “Fletch” draws influence, instruments, and imagery from gospel, R&B, and psychedelic rock, as well as both kinds of music (country and western).
Saxophones, steel guitars, and Samsonite suitcases are but a few of the music makers you might trip over onstage at a show.
Children are welcome!
