Living Well With Diabetes Workshop
August 4 to September 8 - Thursdays
10:00 AM to Noon

In this six-week, self-management workshop, participants discuss:

  • Managing symptoms
  • Communicating effectively with your healthcare team
  • Dealing with emotions and stress
  • Managing blood sugar levels
  • Monitoring risk factors
  • Reading nutrition labels
  • Planning healthy meals and snacks
  • Practical tips for fitness

Reference book and healthy snack provided. Cost is based on ability to pay. No one will be turned away due to financial constraints. Caregivers and family members are encouraged to attend!

The workshop meets every week, for two hours, for six weeks. It is led by specially trained volunteer leaders, some who have health conditions themselves. The program covers new topics each week and provides opportunities for interaction and group problem solving. The leaders are more like coaches who guide participants through the topics. The answer to someone’s question is usually in the room from another participant who has gone or is going through a similar situation.

Call to register: (612) 787-4045.

This program has been designed by the Stanford University Patient Education Research Center. This program is funded under contract with the Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging Inc. as part of the Older Americans Act Program funding.  Presented in partnership with the Wilder Foundation.
