EAST SIDE THRIFT STORE, a program of East Side Neighborhood Services, Inc., is located at 1928 Central Avenue NE.
Thank you letter to the NE Community for their support over the years
Dear Friends,
The original Silver Angel Thrift Store became a program of East Side in 2003. At that time, the program was an important part of the ESNS mission and commitment to the community. The store provided not only a great outlet to donate gently used items but also provided much-needed goods to help those in need whenever we could. Over the years we have had great Staff and hundreds of devoted Volunteers, many from 10 churches in the NE area. We have appreciated the commitment and support of your parish and parishioners over the years and want to say thank you for all you have done.
We have unfortunately had to make the difficult decision to close the program at the end of April, 2013. The Thrift Store, for a number of years, has not been profitable and the volume of goods distributed to those with need in the community has continued to decline. Several other second-hand stores have opened in the community, further negatively affecting our donations and sales. As a multi-service community organization we have decided to refocus our efforts in our many other program and service areas.
We will begin a series of progressive sales on March 5th. The last day for accepting contributions will be March 15. The projected last day of operation will be April 20th. It is our hope that all of our community partners will take pride in the 10 years of community service we were able to provide together.
Many thanks,
William J. Laden
Executive Director

This "boutique of treasures" offers clothing for all ages, baby and children items, accessories & jewelry, housewares, antiques & collectibles, miscellaneous items such as sporting equipment, electronics, games, tools and books. With the continuous turnover of merchandise, it is a great place to shop for interesting items. East Side Thrift Store as a non-profit thrift store relies on contributions of merchandise, funds and volunteer hours.
Donations of gently used items are accepted during store hours and can be delivered to the donation door located at the side entrance on 20th. Contributing items is an excellent way to reduce, reuse and recycle. Bedding, blankets, towels and winter clothing are in high demand.
Tax deductible funds can be sent to East Side Neighborhood Services at 1700 - 2nd Street NE, Minneapolis, 55413. Another option is our web site donation page where safe, secure contributions can be made.
Volunteer men and women are the backbone of East Side Thrift Store's success. Flexible hours and a feeling of satisfaction keep volunteers active and involved. Anyone interested in volunteering can call Lynn at 612-789-0600.
The local faith community is a strong advocate and partner of the Thrift Store. We appreciate the contributions of merchandise, funding and volunteers of these churches: Antioch Community Church, Faith United Methodist Church, Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church, Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mount Carmel Lutheran Church, Nativity Lutheran Church, Northeast Community Lutheran Church, Northeast United Methodist, and Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
Thank you!
