Named after our 1700 2nd Street Northeast location, our Summer on 2nd Street Program is a day program for youth in Northeast Minneapolis built upon a foundation of academic enrichment activities, field trips and special events.
Through this seven week program, we integrate a school component. Each week has a structure around a specific theme and academic focus. Examples include: Team Work, Exercise and Nutrition, Science, Animals, Music, Theatre, and Water Fun. Social skills are also integrated into the themed weeks, such as problem-solving, friendship, leadership, self-monitoring, responsibility, stereotyping and prejudice, and critical thinking.
What’s around the corner? We are designing our very own outdoor classroom with special funding from the HYPE (Helping Youth Promote Empowerment) Council.
