Activities and a Typical Day at Camp
There is something for everyone at camp! Campers have the opportunity to gain safe swimming skills by certified instructors, engage in outdoor sports, create various forms of nature art, and learn new skills in fishing, boating/canoeing, hiking and archery! Three nutritious, home cooked meals, along with healthy snacks are provided daily.
Friends: Campers will make many lasting friendships with their cabin mates. Living in a cabin group strengthens social skill development, such as cooperation, trust, listening, inter-personal skills, independence, communication, responsibility and teamwork. Intentionally building positive relationships at Camp Bovey is one of the many aspects that makes camp special!
Adventure: Campers will learn important wilderness survival skills from an expert outdoor educator. Campers will experience hands-on learning during their overnight adventure. Our outdoor-living-skills program teaches campers about orienteering (map & compass), knot tying, tree, plant and animal identification, fire safety, row boating, archery, outdoor cooking and tenting. Campers will experience hiking and exploring nature on our privately owned, 200 acres. Campers attending the 12-day sessions will have the opportunity to experience a canoe trip on one of Wisconsin's scenic river-ways.
Leadership: Every camper will enhance their leadership skills through intentional leadership development programming. Our experienced camp staff lead by example, promote positive behavior and model characteristics of strong, diverse leaders. Youth also get the opportunity to apply leadership skills by making group decisions, planning group service projects and being good role models for younger campers. The Counselor-In-Training program (CIT) is offered for 15-18 year olds. If you want to build on your leadership skills and be an example in your community, the CIT program is for you!
